Mustang Strong -- COVID-19 Information

Thank you for your commitment to keep our campus healthy and Mustang Strong. SMU has sunset many of the pandemic protocols previously in place. Please reference the information below for specifics on testing, masking, vaccinations and more.

More Information

If you are feeling ill and experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, stay home and rest until you are well and prepared to return to campus.

Students should contact their instructors and make-up any lost work.

Faculty and staff can alert their dean or supervisor if they plan to miss time due to illness. The University discontinued its case management program and no longer requires individuals with a confirmed case of COVID-19 to report it to SMU.

If you have been exposed to the virus (but are not experiencing symptoms or have a confirmed positive test) monitor your symptoms.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention offers useful isolation and quarantine guidance—including when it's best to stay home due to exposure—tailored to your specific vaccination status and date of exposure. (click on Quarantine and Isolation calculator at the top of the page)

Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is not required to attend or work at SMU. The University offers students the option to get vaccinated and boosted on campus at the Dr. Bob Smith Health Center.

You can learn more and schedule your vaccine or booster by visiting the Health Center website or by calling 214-768-2141 (option 1).

Employees should consult their nearest health provider or primary care physician for COVID-19 vaccines.

Masks are optional on the SMU campus in indoor spaces with the exception of the Dr. Bob Smith Health Center.

N95 masks are available upon request. A limited supply of disinfectant and cleaning materials is also available for faculty and staff. Please submit requests through STABLE.

Employees seeking a reasonable accommodation based on a disability should contact the Office of Institutional Access and Equity (IAE) at accessequity@bjyiluji.com.

Students should contact Disability Accommodations & Success Strategies (DASS) to request accommodations.

The University’s case management, required case reporting, voluntary vaccine reporting and daily maintenance of the dashboard have been discontinued.

Members of the SMU community have several options to test for COVID-19.

Students

COVID-19 testing is available at the Dr. Bob Smith Health Center for students. You can learn more and schedule your test by visiting the Health Center website or by calling 214-768-2141 (option 1).
